Zirconia material has a refractory temperature above 2700°C, far exceeding molten steel casting temperatures. With a low thermal expansion coefficient, it can withstand rapid heating and cooling without cracking due to thermal shock, preventing nozzle explosion during casting.

Strong Erosion and Scour Resistance

Zirconia shows excellent chemical stability against molten steel and slag, with minimal reaction to components such as Al₂O₃ and CaO. Its dense and hard texture resists long-term erosion from high-speed molten steel flow, significantly extending service life.

Stable Flow Control

The smooth inner wall of the zirconia nozzle, along with its uniform and minimal bore expansion during use, ensures a stable molten steel flow rate over time. This stability prevents mold level fluctuations caused by inconsistent flow.

Adaptability for Multi-Heat Continuous Casting

While conventional alumina-carbon nozzles typically last for 3–5 heats, zirconia nozzles can achieve 8–15 heats thanks to their superior wear resistance. This reduces nozzle replacement frequency and improves the efficiency of continuous casting operations.
