Ferro Silicon

Ferrosilicon is an alloy of iron and silicon with a typical silicon content by weight of 15–90%. It contains a high proportion of iron silicides.

 

Nodulizing Agent

A "nodulizing agent" is a metal or alloy additive added to molten iron during the casting process to encourage the formation of spherical graphite particles, resulting in "nodular cast iron" (also called ductile iron), which has improved strength and toughness compared to regular cast iron.

 

Metallic Silicon

Metallic silicon is also known as crystalline silicon or industrial silicon, its main use is as an additive for non-iron-based alloys. Silicon is a non-metallic element, gray, metallic color, hard and brittle. The content of silicon is about 26% of the mass of the Earth's crust. Atomic weight 28.80; The density is 2.33g/m3. The melting point is 1410°C; the Boiling point is 2355°C; The resistivity is 2140 ω.m.

 

Steelmaking Deoxidizer

Cored Wire

Cored wires consist of a metallic outer sheath, filled with flux or metal powder, as shown in Figure 8.11. The use of cored wire electrodes is increasing in parallel with the introduction of new types of wire.

 

Heat Preservation Heating Agent

Riser covering agent is also called heat preservation agent, dedicated to common Ming riser steel casting sand mold, in the case of without heat insulating riser set, also can make the absorption of riser pipe shrinkage by "V" for "U" shape deformation, avoid the osteoporosis and the shrinkage cavity, was 30%, and the effect on riser weight reduced by 50% - 75%.

 

Refining Slag

Refining slag is predominantly used in ladle refining processes within LF (Ladle Furnace), open-hearth furnaces, and converters. Its primary function is to remove impurities like sulfur and oxygen from molten steel, thus reducing the levels of harmful elements and impurities within the steel.

 

Inoculant

As a kind of inoculant, it can promote graphitization, reduce the tendency of white mouth, improve the morphology and distribution of graphite, increase the number of eutectic groups and refine the matrix. It has good effect in a short time (about 5 ~ 8 minutes) after inoculation. Mainly applicable to all kinds of situations in the general or post-instantaneous gestating.

Storage Requirements for Metallurgy Refractories
 

● Metallurgy refractories should be stored in a dry, covered, weatherprotected location, a permanent warehouse, and placed on a concrete slab, asphalt pad, or other impermeable surface. The product should be stored on the original pallets but elevated from the surface to allow air circulation. Care should be taken to avoid high humidity locations where moisture can collect under the plastic pallet wrapping.

 

● Metallurgy refractories should NOT be stored on grass, soil, or other non-compacted surface or any area where moisture can collect, stand, or come in contact with the refractory or refractory packaging.

● Refractory bags or containers showing evidence of damage, or being previously opened, should not be used and should be discarded. Bags containing dry refractory that is agglomerated, containing hard lumps, or have evidence of water stains should not be used and should be discarded. Hard lumps indicate that the dry refractory has come into contact and reacted with water.

 

● Ideal air and material temperature range during storage is 50°F (10°C) to 80°F (27°C) for all metallurgy refractorie products.
