Products Description
Zirconia slide plate is a key functional refractory used in ladle slide gate systems for continuous casting. It controls the flow of molten steel from ladle to tundish by the relative sliding between upper and lower plates. The bore area is the most vulnerable part due to direct contact with high-temperature steel and slag, so we use stabilized zirconia material at the flow channel to improve erosion resistance and extend service life.
We supply both composite zirconia slide plate (zirconia insert only at nozzle bore) and full zirconia slide plate, matching different steel grades, ladle sizes and casting sequences.
Working Principle
In a slide gate system, the upper plate is fixed to the ladle nozzle and the lower plate moves with the gate mechanism. When the two bores align, molten steel flows through; when misaligned, the flow is throttled or fully closed. The sliding faces must remain flat and tight under repeated thermal cycling, mechanical pressure and steel erosion. Zirconia material at the bore reduces wear and prevents bore enlargement, which is the main cause of plate replacement.
