Steel flow path from ladle to mold
- The insert protects the lower nozzle body, slowing the erosion rate of the inner bore by molten steel and slag systems. This results in slower bore diameter changes and smoother steel flow, making it suitable for extended continuous casting operations.
Long continuous casting or high-speed pouring conditions
- Wear on the lower nozzle is concentrated, and standard materials are prone to bore enlargement. Zirconia inserts enhance bore stability, reducing flow fluctuations and operational adjustments caused by bore enlargement.
Continuous casting of stainless steel and high-alloy steels
- Highly reactive and corrosive slag systems accelerate erosion of the lower nozzle bore. Zirconia inserts demonstrate superior stability against molten steel and slag, extending nozzle service life and minimizing mid-pour replacements.
