Drainage Sand Improves Production Efficiency, Reduces Molten Steel Pollution, And Reduces Flue Gas Consumption

An indispensable refractory material for eccentric furnace tapping, that is, drainage sand. It mainly uses Henan magnesia olivine and Liaoning Dashiqiao fused magnesia as the main raw materials, and Hubei Yichang carbon materials as additives, according to specific granules. The diameter and weight percentage are combined to prepare drainage sand after mixing. It is proved after trial that the drainage sand has good dispersion fluidity, high refractoriness, no sintering, no clogging, and a tapping rate of 100%. The drainage rate is 100%. Temperature ≥1750℃, no chemical reaction with molten steel and alloy components, no variability in storage quality, can meet the steelmaking process requirements, is the most ideal refractory material for eccentric furnace steelmaking.

1) It is required to be able to sinter at a lower temperature to avoid accidents caused by the rise of drainage sand when molten steel is added

2) It is required that the molten steel surface of the welcoming steel cannot be sintered too thick under high temperature and long time smelting state, in order to achieve automatic pouring, improve production efficiency, reduce molten steel pollution, reduce flue gas consumption, and improve production safety factor.

With the development of continuous casting technology, the original ceramic plug has been replaced by sliding nozzle + drainage sand. Due to the continuous improvement of the requirements for the quality of molten steel, it is necessary to automatically open the ladle. If it cannot be automatically poured, it needs to be boiled through an oxygen lance to assist drainage. This will cause a considerable amount of molten steel to be cast open, causing secondary oxidation, affecting the quality of the molten steel, increasing casting costs, and threatening the safety of equipment and operators.
